Important Financial Info for RSOs |
For RSOs that received funding for Quarter 1 (August 26th-October 13)
Organizations that have received budget allocations for Quarter 1 will be able to access their funding through purchase requests
after they have completed the required training. The Financial Manager and/or Primary Contact of each organization must attend the Organization Budget Allocation Process 201 training where you will learn about the purchasing guidelines and procedures that must be followed when using the allocation. |
For RSOs that would like to apply for future funding (after October 13)
The deadline for Quarter 2 (October 14th-December 6) funding is coming up soon! The deadline to request funding for Q2 is September 19th - NO LATE SUBMISSIONS! If you would like to learn more about the process for submitting a budget request and the funding guidelines, you should attend an upcoming Organization Budget Allocation Process 101 session - attending this session is REQUIRED for an organization to be eligible to submit a budget request for this academic year!
Note:
Only the person/people who attend an OBAP 101 session on the organization's behalf are authorized to submit the budget request.
Not sure who is authorized to submit a budget request for your organization? Check this list! If you don't have someone on this list, or the person has graduated/is no longer with the organization, you MUST send someone else to an OBAP 101 session. Details about upcoming sessions can be found in Tribelink events when they are posted. |

Last week, SLD drew your attention to a new policy at W&M that states:
Recognized Student Organizations lack the authority to investigate and adjudicate alleged violations of university policy, including, but not limited to violations of the W&M Student Code of Conduct or Honor Code, W&M’s Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Discriminatory Harassment, Retaliation & Sexual Misconduct, and W&M’s Policy Prohibiting Title IX Sexual & Gender-Based Harassment. Suspected violations of those policies should be reported to appropriate university officials.

First up - directing your attention to the landing page for "Navigating Membership Issues" that has been created for RSO's. More information can be found there including a newly created resource that helps groups create Good & Fair Processes. If you have questions,
we will be holding office hours the next few weeks and encourage you to stop by.

Update your TribeLink Page! |
As the new year starts, lots of students are exploring involvement opportunities on campus, and this includes looking at the 500+ student organizations on TribeLink! |
Make sure your organization's information is up to date and current! Additionally, organizations that have an O365 account (Outlook email and Sharepoint/Teams) MUST keep the Primary Contact information up to date in TribeLink. This is to ensure that the correct leader in the organization has access as the O365 account owner. They can share access with other leaders as needed, but the Primary Contact list in TribeLink determines primary ownership/access for O365 accounts. |
Student Organization Conduct Histories: The conduct histories of RSOs that pertain to hazing shall be maintained in prominent location on the institution's website and a hardcopy notice of the nature and availability of the reports shall be provided to all attendees at student orientations |

Events with Alcohol Training |
The "I Can...I Will...Events with Alcohol Training" online workshop is a required training for any student who will be either an event manager or a server at an event hosted on campus at which alcohol is served. This training is required annually or each academic year. The course is self-enrolled and open between August 25th & October 13th for the Fall 2025 semester! If your organization plans to host any events with alcohol this academic year, please ensure that you have at least one representative (the event manager and server) complete the training! |
Event Planning Meets are Required: If your organization is hosting an event with alcohol, you must complete an Event Planning Meeting with the office of Student Leadership Development. To schedule this meeting, please email leadership@wm.edu! |
